What’s needed in order for me to create again?
“Engage the Honest Artist”
The honest artist isn’t looking for fame, awards, medals or attention to PAY her for something, she’s simply looking for recognition that she is Creating and that is a worthwhile pursuit.
She isn’t worried about being “on topic,” “on niche” “not alienating her audience”, of “fulfilling a consistent quota”, she feels upsurgings and she simply must do.
The honest artist embraces the messy process of Creation and feels no embarrassment or shame, she can do it publicly or privately but she recognises she’s in it for the long haul and so the rush is an illusion she pays no mind to.
THE HONEST ARTIST
- Documents, diarises, processes (universal), truths-learning (as relevant through personal experiences), or things she’s come to believe as that’s what’s been apparent/useful
- Is honest/frank/shares TRUTH. Tells the truth (that she feels safe and willing to share)
- Infrequent selling/contextual selling
- Mentions something she’s creating every so often
- Display/show snippets of the things within free content
- Is Relatable
- Cinematic + talking head i.e engaging + relatability
- Depth -> achieved via all the above
THE HONEST ARTIST DOESN’T/ISN’T
- Educate (ie be a know it all)
- “Convert” (no need to specifically embody this frequency)
- Cold (overly cinematic, unrelatable and “artistic”)
- Superficial
- Too serious (Constantly striving to be “better”)
IN SUMMARY: THE HONEST ARTIST
- Documents/diarises/engages rather than educate and convert
- Does considered and intentional front-facing (i.e public) processing
- Is honest, frank and shares Truth as she understands it
- Sells rarely
- Makes those watching her feel valued, appreciated and included
- Is relatable
- Cultivates Depth
